Guitar Notes

Reading Guitar Music

Learning to read music on your guitar is a fabulous skill to work on. Reading notes opens up an entire international language of music. With the skill of reading notes you can easily learn any song that written down, even if you have never heard it before.

It's also good to read notes because if you've ever played the game where you whisper a secret to the person sitting next to you. By the time it goes around the circle the message has completely changed.

It's like that with music too. Unless you listen over and over to the original recording, it's very easy to accidentally change the original melody.

Watch the short Reading Music and Music Theory for Guitar from our new course. In just 4 minutes you can understand some of the basics of reading music.

Reading Music and Music Theory

Music Theory

Once you know how to read notes, learning music theory is a piece of cake. I put together a guitar course that can teach people both music reading notes and music theory. In fact, the video below is an excerpt from the first lesson and in just a few minute you can learn some of the basic fundamentals of music.

Music is written on a musical staff, which has 5 lines and 4 spaces. A staff sign determines what the pitches are. Guitar music uses a Treble Clef, called a G Clef. Beside the clef sign, you also need to understand time signatures, key signatures and the values of notes and rests.

You can download a couple of the guitar lessons free at ChristianGuitarOnlineVideos.com. Meanwhile, watch the short video above for an explanation of several of the music terms.
